RAF Oldton

rafoldton2

Hot on the foot of the disappearing airfield theory comes a photo that adds a significant chunk to the map (if it's authentic). It chimes in with two childhood memories for me. One is a wartime photo of my grandpa (Fred 'Tiny' Wright) dressed in RAF uniform that I used to stare at in my Gran's house. The other is my dad taking us for a spin in his red car on an abandoned airfield to teach my sister the basics of driving and then zooming as fast as we could down the derelict runway.
