This was my first encounter with someone (another Guiding Spirit?) lured into a BlakeWalk simply by watching our progress on the web:
I meet Andy at Temple Station and we walk the 'O' through the Inns, up to Clerkenwell before taking a diversion to Bunhill Fields. There we listen to Alan Ginsberg and Mark E Smith at Blake’s graveside.
As we walk Andy tells me about his practice and how he works with found images, mainly in magazines. As fate would have it, our walk takes us right past the market stall where Andy buys his Materials.
It is inspirational to talk to someone else struggling with their Imagination. We talk about how it feels to be Unrecognised, to refuse to walk the obvious path with a Profession, about being too old, or rather not too old, but old and not venerable, or perhaps just old enough to finally know what your life’s work really should be. I wonder whether this Walk, this 'O', is all about work for its own sake and encounters with others who are seeking and risking and working to no discernible end.
Who will be next? Someone called Adam has contacted me about a possible BlakeWalk together. Perhaps as you read this, you might discover that YOU too are ready for a BlakeWalk? Feel free to contact me should you wish to share your Walk and your Walk.
